Last week, Dr. Michael New, Visiting Associate Professor of Economics, spoke to students about “Pro-Life Progress: Strategies for the Current Decade and Beyond."
His main message? “We’ve made progress!”
Using graphs and available data, New demonstrated what sort of progress has been made by the Pro-Life movement since the 1970s, and what sort of strategies should be employed in the future to replicate and further what has proved successful in the past.
Dr. New specializes in the social science of pro-life issues. He is a frequent blogger on National Review Online’s "The Corner” and has had two studies on pro-life legislation published by the academic journal State Politics and Policy Quarterly. Four of his other studies on the effects of pro-life legislation have been published by the Heritage Foundation, and another study was published by Family Research Council in 2008.
