Warp Speed

Every April involves a flurry of activity.  As the weather in sunny Florida heats up, so does the pace on our campus.

Sunday we had the student Broadway show tunes production, and the Athletics banquet which over 300 student athletes attended.  Today lectures by Dr. Michael Pakaluk and Dr. Catherine Pakaluk, as well as a separate forum keynoted by our founder, Tom Monaghan.  Tomorrow my wife Mary and I will host our graduating seniors at a reception at our University home.  And before you know it, I’ll be handing those students their diplomas – a record 202 undergraduate degrees and 27 graduate degrees.

And speaking of records, I am happy to report that at this point we are looking at an entering class this fall that will be our largest yet.  We are already past the half-way mark of the enrollment cycle and today we have more deposits than we had at this time a year ago.  Because we have 500 more applications now than a year ago, and over 100 more acceptances, it is reasonable to believe that the Class of 2019 may surpass in size and academic excellence the largest-ever class of 2018!  Overall enrollment may exceed 1,100 as Ave continues its march to 1,500 students by 2020.

It never lets up on our campus – and that’s a good thing.

The Lord is prospering the fine work of many minds and hands. Our faculty continues to distinguish itself in academia and more and more national recognition is coming Ave Maria’s way.

Yes, this academic year is barreling ahead toward another successful conclusion.  I just wish there was a little bit of quiet time to enjoy all that the Lord is doing at Ave Maria University!
