Graduate Students Participate in St. Paul Center Summer Institute

Recently, four current AMU graduate students and one alumnus participated in the invitation only St. Paul’s Center for Biblical Theology Letter and Spirit Summer Institute for PhD students in theology. The Letter and Spirit Summer Institute, led by world renown theologian Dr. Scott Hahn, has the character of part rigorous coursework and part summer camp. This year, participants in the summer institute engaged in an intensive study of St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians together with Dr. Hahn and Dr. William Bales from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. Additionally, there was time for fellowship and prayer. Two priests from the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal participated in the program and acted as chaplains for the institute. PhD students in theology from various schools joined together in prayer, study, and various activities over the course of five days in a fruitful week.

Reflecting on his time there current PhD student Daniel Lendman remarked, “Dr. Hahn and Dr. Bales both really did a lot to open up the letter to the Ephesians. Also, the discussion with my fellow program participants, both in the classroom and without, were top notch. This has really been a highlight of the summer and hope to do it again.”
